He is Risen! (By Alex Bohn)

February 26, 2007

I am disgusted.  As I watch the news and hear of this heresy.  Headline: The Tomb of Jesus has been discovered!

NON SENSE! How dare these men try to ease the their own guilt by trying to cover up the truth with lies.  Christ's body is not anywhere on this earth, He has no wife, for his bride is his church. No child except for all whom he calls to salvation, for He sits at the right hand of the Father- not burried in a tomb.

What is it that makes these men conjure up lies?  It is fear, fear of God, and not the healthy fear of God which God requres of us, but scared fear, these men are terrified!  As they very well should be.  They live in sin and live to disprove God.  How foolish they are because this will never be done.  How can this universe have so much order and operate so flawlessly, the answer because its creater is orderly and flawless!  Everything we can see and touch and have and make has flaws, that is everything but God and His infallible word!  What a comfort is this.  God's word is perfect and has no flaws, and His word tells us:

1But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices...

"His Great Sovereignty" (By Alex Bohn)

February 24, 2007

As I sat in the pews, as the sermons came and went,

I had no remorse, no will to repent.

But, by your sovereign grace you have called me to yourself,

and shared with me a great spiritual wealth.

For you have chosen me before this world began,

And have brought me to you with your mighty sovereign hand

Why have you called me and changed the way I feel?

Your answer is because it is your sovereign will.

For who shall bring charge against God's Elect?

It is on this thought i would like to reflect.

If God is on your side, and in him you abide,

You have no one to fear off that road so wide.

For without him I am nothing, nothing at all,

with him I'm something he wont let me fall!

............"just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world that we should be holy and without blame before Him." -Ephesians 1:4

Anywhere but on His Throne! (By Alex Bohn)

February 23, 2007

When we call oursleves Christians, we are saying that we have come to an end of ourselves and look to glorify God in all that we do.  All Christians MUST be agreed with this point, for you do not try to glorify God in all that you do (notice I use the word try, for God knows we will fail at this) then you are not a born again believer!  One point however, is not agreed on by all Christians.  And that point is the way we come to an end of ourselves, or rather, How are we saved?  I myself am a Calvinist in my beliefs and believe strongly that God has chosen whoever it pleased him to choose for salvation...... my question is, Why do people fear this fact?  What is their to fear in this great truth.... our own depraved human nature peverts the truth.  Oh fine, we will "allow" God to be the creator, ah we can let God be the great physician and healer, we might even "allow" God to be sovereign in where we work and live...... but why are we so scared to let him be soveriegn over our salvation. That is to let Him have total...

Where is God in Times of Trouble? (By Alex Bohn)

February 21, 2007

Mark 4:35-41

  • 35And that same day, when the evening had come, He said unto them,"Let us pass over unto the other side."
36And when they had sent away the multitude, they took Him even as He was in the boat; and there were also with Him other little boats.
37And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was now full.
38But He was in the hind part of the boat, asleep on a pillow; and they awoke Him and said unto Him, "Master, carest thou not that we perish?"
39And He arose, and rebuked the wind and said unto the sea, "Peace, be still." And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
40And He said unto them, "Why are you so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith?"
41And they feared exceedingly and said one to another, "What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?"

So often there are times when it feels as if God has all but abandoned this earth.  As if He could...

By Grace Ye are Saved (By C.H. Spurgeon)

February 19, 2007

IT is by the grace of God that ungodly men are preserved from instant death. The sharp axe of justice would soon fell the barren tree if the interceding voice of Jesus did not cry, "Spare him yet a little." Many sinners, when converted to God, have gratefully acknowledged that it was of the Lord's mercy that they were not consumed. John Bunyan had three memorable escapes before his conversion, and mentions them in his "Grace Abounding" as illustrious instances of long-suffering mercy. Occasionally such deliverances are made the means of affecting the heart with tender emotions of love to God, and grief for having offended him. Should it not be so? Ought we not to account that the longsuffering of God is salvation? (2 Peter 3:15.) An officer during a battle was struck by a nearly spent ball near his waistcoat pocket, but he remained uninjured, for a piece of silver stopped the progress of the deadly missile. The coin was marked at the words DEI GRATIA (by the grace of God). This providential circumstance deeply impressed his mind, and led him to read a tract which a godly sister had given him when leaving home. God blessed the... [More]

What is Postmodernism? (By Martin Rizley)

February 16, 2007

This study was given on Friday, February 16 2007.  It was given by Martin Rizley and elder of TRBC and was given at a youth meeting.  It is a very relavant topic about a philosiphy that is sweeping our society to day.  This is a dangerous way of thinking and a Christian must know what it is and how to fight against it.  I hope you find this study helpful.

I. Defining Postmodernism

A. Christian view of truth- truth is established by God, and is revealed to man by God

B. Modernist view of truth- truth is defined by human reason, man is the measure of all things

(Both A&B universal truth- but one is man discovering his truth and the other is man discovering God’s truth)

C. Post-Modernist view of truth- every one has their own truths

1) Truth is perspectival, and therefore, limited

2) Truth is subjective, rather than objective

3) Truth is relative, rather absolute

4) Truth is plural, rather than universal

5) Truth is made, rather than discovered

(They make up their own truth, truth is different for everybody)

II. Christian Critique of Postmodernism

A. First, we must understand the true nature of postmodernism

B. Second, we must expose the...

"Lord, Make Me Humble" (By Alex Bohn)

February 16, 2007

Lord make me a martyr; a martyr for Christ,

For I am willling, if I must, to pay the ultimate price.

Send me where you will, do  with me as you please,

But Lord God I beg you keep me humble and on my knees.

Lord make me humble, destroy my pride.

For what can I be proud, it is your son who died?

For my wretched sins he hung on that cross,

Help me to stay humble, count not my soul as a loss.

Lord keep me humble, this is my prayer,

Let not a proud word leave my mouth into the air.

"Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God that He may exalt you in due time." (1 Peter 5:6)

Starved and Parched Souls (By Alex Bohn)

February 16, 2007

Are you hungry?  Do you feel spiritually starved?  Do you nibble on stale spiritual ideas and thoughts, which satisfy only for a time, but a even greater hunger returns soon after?  Well there is an easy solution to this problem- Turn to Christ! - for He is the "bread of life" whoever comes to Him "shall never hunger".  We all go through situations in our life where we feel spiritualy starved, when we constanty look for something to fill us..... well we must stop our searching for all the while it has been right in front of us, ready to sustain us. All we must do is fall before Christ and feed on His word!  And once we are His and once He is ours it is a we are filled permanantly.  For once we drink of Christ we "shall never thirst"!  Oh what a promise this is, Christ shall nourish our souls forever and it shall be such a bountiful feast we should never worry about being hungry or thirsty ever again.  Fall before Christ this very day and he will sustain you forever and always! Amen~ (John 3:35-40)

We are all slaves!!!! (By Alex Bohn)

February 15, 2007

By definition a bondservant is one who serves in bondage; serves as a slave but to a Christian being a bondservant is so much more than that.  Who would want this job you ask?...... who would want to be a bondservant? Well everyone of us is a bondservant whether we our proud of it our not.  Even we Christians cant escape it, we are all to be bondservants of Christ serving him in all that we say, think, and do.  The title "Bondservant of Christ" should not be had with shame but with gratitude and humble submission.  The fact that the Lord and God of this universe would pick someone such as yourself should make you thankful.  The fact that even though this Lord saved you from the bondage of sin you still spit in his face daily with your deed and word.  How disgraceful we are to our master, but Oh how good he is to us still.  But woe to him who is not a bondservant of Christ, for he has no other choice..... he is a bondservant of sin! If a man does not serve God he serves sin, his will and mind our bound by the power of sin and man cannot free himself for he is flesh and full of weakness.  This man...

A Defense of Calvinism (By Charles Haddon Spurgeon)

February 15, 2007

"The old truth that Calvin preached, that Augustine preached, that Paul preached, is the truth that I must preach to-day, or else be false to my conscience and my God. I cannot shape the truth; I know of no such thing as paring off the rough edges of a doctrine. John Knox's gospel is my gospel. That which thundered through Scotland must thunder through England again."—C. H. Spurgeon

IT IS A GREAT THING to begin the Christian life by believing good solid doctrine. Some people have received twenty different "gospels" in as many years; how many more they will accept before they get to their journey's end, it would be difficult to predict. I thank God that He early taught me the gospel, and I have been so perfectly satisfied with it, that I do not want to know any other. Constant change of creed is sure loss. If a tree has to be taken up two or three times a year, you will not need to build a very large loft in which to store the apples. When people are always shifting their doctrinal principles, they are not likely to bring forth much fruit to the glory of God. It...
